We often believe that control equals security. If we plan enough, prepare enough, and push hard enough, everything will work out. But life has a way of reminding us: we are not in control of everything.
Christianity teaches surrender to God’s will—trusting that there is a greater plan unfolding, even when we don’t understand it. Buddhism teaches non-attachment—releasing our grip on outcomes and accepting the present moment as it is.
At first glance, these may seem different. But at their core, they point to the same freedom: peace comes not from controlling life, but from trusting it.
Surrender is not giving up—it’s letting go of the illusion that you must carry everything alone. It’s replacing anxiety with trust, resistance with acceptance.
When you stop fighting reality, you gain the energy to actually live within it.
Motivation for today: Identify one thing you’ve been trying to control too tightly. Write it down. Then ask yourself: What would it look like to trust instead? Take one small step in that direction.
